Use that DSM-IV ! tab it, look at it a bit daily and study what you DON"T KNOW not what YOU KNOW
If you can get atleast the 30 day its great, lots u can print and study from ...more tabs and dividers.

I am taking the exam on July 9th in Sarasota Florida. How detailed do you think we need to get in knowing the specific diagnostic criteria? I have completed the simulations once, but still feel like my success is hit or miss. Any thoughts??? Is it really necessary to know all of the assessments, diagnoses and therapies?

Since the exam is focused specifically on diagnoses, assessments and treatments I am studying everything I can and being as detailed as possible within those three categories. I am using the study guide provided in this site (bought it between my friend and I, due to economic difficulties) and it has help to put in perspective what will be on the test and what I should focus on. I also believe taking practice tests as often as possible is very helpful!! So keep taking practice tests until u feel confident. Good luck!!!

I am almost finished with the "5 Final Simulation" activity and did well on the first 3. I too have the study guide and should probably spend more time looking it over this weekend. I am primarily focusing on the web stuff, so I think I will diversify. I often find that when I miss points on the practice simulations, it is because I didn't read the question well enough or think it through long enough. When I am really focused I do pretty well it seems.

I just hope the case studies on the exam really are similar to this review in terms of format and difficulty level. Has anyone purchased the actual practice test from NBCC to compare with this website?

The guide printed by Morrison Media is a complete waste of money, it provides no information related directly to the NCMHCE. I have read a review about CasePro saying it is 2x's more difficult than NCMHCE which is supposed to more than adequately prepare one for the exam. I am contemplating subscribing to to it but hate to spend more money. I welcome any feedback. Counselingexam has been very good but my success with it seems so inconsistant. Sometimes I do great with the case studies and other times terrible. Has anyone else had this experience? How does one know when they are ready?

I defintely share your feelings about inconsistent success. I have descrbed it as "hit or miss." I am doing better now though since I have been studying the diagnoses more closely and refreshing on the assessment instruments. I don't think I will ever feel "ready" and fully prepared, but I will give it my best shot on Thursday! YIKES!
