Hi Keri,
I have been reviewing and preparing for the exam about 3 months.Meaning I knew that I was going to have to take the exam so I would research material that would be helpful. I have been studying the simualtions and case studies. I have also talked to coworkers who have taken the exam and they said that it's intense,but to relax.I have been studying the DSM-IV-TR and Theories.I have found that the material on this website is worth the investment.I wrestled with that a long time because I had spent a ton of money already.I don't know what state you are in but in New York the procedure is wicked to get approved.That was the main reason why I was preparing and reviewing before, I had to wait to be approved to sit for the exam. I use alot of 3x5 cards and make my own flashcards.Any questions feel free to contact me.

Hi my name is Herb and it is to my understanding that we should try to understand one theory in reference to how we apply it to a client's profile amd that is with the oral examination. It is best to stick with the one that you are familiar with so that you can explain it. You will always have time to look over the other theories when you are certified. The written presentation will cover questions that are related to all facets of the counseling field. Some theories, but not all. Adler, Maslow, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, REBT, etc. Let us talk about what it is we know about these and any others that you wish to add.

I was under the impression that the exam is given the first week of the month? Check this out with NBCC.Also, I am relocating to NC what is the job market like for Therapist? I maybe able to assist you with material,leave a message.I can understand hard financial times.

Gwen, Thanks! How can I reach you via e-mail? I can only tell you to stay positive and assured and network. Where in N.C.? Do you know anyone there? The Carolina's are really beautiful! I always helps to know people in the field and i will be glad to give you any contacts here and you can at least start as people often know people in next state. Also get on some sort of counseling newsletter. Thanks!!!
Would love to know about renting before I buy as it is a really scary for me know financially but I have hope and faith in where i am going!!!!

Hello all... I am taking the NCMHCE it in July.... I'm pretty worried!!! I ordered the CasePro and supplement materials and have attempted to study from them... can anyone suggest any other study guides? I do not know anyone who has taken the exam yet so I feel like I'm going in there blind!!! I live in Long Island, NY, and would also like to network with others in the field...

Yes it is overwhelming, but it can be done. I have been studying for some time and plan to take the exam in May. Some of my friends having taken it and passed. They have stated that you need to know the DSM-IV and diagnosising.Make study cards for yourself and practice them also I have been using this website to build my confidence. I am in NY also. Make a study schedule and stick to it, you have time.
